Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using this website or engaging in services provided by Alberta Online Counselling, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please refrain from using our services or website.

2. Services

Alberta Online Counselling offers virtual mental health services, including individual counselling for grief, PTSD, relationships, addiction, behavioural issues, emotional intelligence, trauma and abuse, and emotional regulation. Services are delivered by qualified professionals and are subject to availability.

3. Eligibility

Services are available to residents of Alberta, Canada. By booking a session, you confirm that you are physically located in Alberta at the time of service.

4. Appointments & Cancellations

  • Booking: Appointments must be scheduled through our website.

  • Cancellations: You must provide at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Missed appointments or late cancellations will be charged in full.

5. Fees & Payment

All prices are listed in Canadian dollars and are subject to change. Payment is required at the time of booking. We accept major credit cards and other payment options as indicated on our site.

6. No Refunds

All payments are non-refundable, including missed appointments, cancellations without 24-hour notice, or dissatisfaction with services. By booking a session, you agree to this no-refund policy.

7. Confidentiality & Privacy

We are committed to protecting your confidentiality and privacy. Your personal information is handled according to Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and our Privacy Policy.

8. Technology Requirements

You are responsible for ensuring a reliable internet connection and working technology to access your session. Alberta Online Counselling is not responsible for issues arising from technical disruptions on your end.

9. Limitation of Liability

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use of our services or website.

10. Intellectual Property

All materials on this website, including text, graphics, logos, and images, are the property of Alberta Online Counselling and may not be used or reproduced without written permission.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Alberta.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update or change these Terms at any time. Continued use of our website or services after changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

Alberta Online Counselling

Liability Waiver, Confidentiality Agreement, and Terms of Service

 

 

1. Consent to Services

 

By signing this agreement, I (“the Client”) confirm that I am voluntarily choosing to participate in online counselling sessions and/or programs offered by Alberta Online Counselling (“the Counsellor” and its associates). I understand that counselling is a collaborative process and that results are not guaranteed.

 

 

2. Liability Waiver

 

I acknowledge and agree that:

 

  • The Counsellor and any affiliates, programs, videos, blogs, podcasts, information sheets, recordings, or media content (collectively referred to as “Materials”) provided in any format are for informational and supportive purposes only and are not intended to replace medical, psychiatric, legal, or financial advice.

  • I waive all rights to any legal claims against Alberta Online Counselling, its owners, employees, contractors, or affiliates in relation to the counselling services or materials provided.

  • I accept full responsibility for how I use the information and guidance received during sessions or from any materials.

 

 

 

3. Session Recording Consent

 

I understand and agree that:

 

  • All counselling sessions may be audio and/or video recorded by Alberta Online Counselling for purposes of quality assurance, training, legal safety, and professional supervision.

  • These recordings will be stored securely and accessible only to authorized personnel, in accordance with Alberta’s Health Information Act (HIA) and Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

  • Recordings will not be shared publicly or externally without my explicit written consent unless required by law.

  • By continuing with the counselling service, I consent to this recording policy and understand that refusal to consent may result in service denial.

 

 

 

4. Confidentiality Agreement

 

  • All information shared during sessions is strictly confidential and will not be disclosed without my written consent, except where required by law (e.g. risk of harm to self/others, child abuse, subpoena).

  • Alberta Online Counselling complies with applicable privacy laws under the Health Information Act (HIA) and Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of Alberta.

  • While every effort is made to protect my confidentiality, I understand that digital communication carries inherent risks, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

 

 

 

5. Non-Disclosure Agreement

 

I agree not to:

 

  • Record, distribute, or disclose any portion of the counselling sessions, content, or communications without prior written permission from the Counsellor.

  • Reproduce or share any proprietary materials, frameworks, or tools shared during or in connection with the services.

 

 

 

6. Payments and Refund Policy

 

  • I acknowledge that all fees are final and non-refundable, regardless of whether I attend, complete, or am satisfied with the session(s) or program(s).

  • I am fully responsible for all payments agreed upon at the time of booking.

  • If I fail to attend a scheduled session without the required notice, or if I choose to terminate services, I understand that no refund will be provided.

 

 

 

7. Code of Conduct and Grounds for Termination

 

  • I agree to engage in all sessions in a respectful and appropriate manner.

  • Any form of abuse, harassment, threats, or inappropriate behavior (verbal or written) directed at the Counsellor or their team will result in immediate termination of services without refund and may be subject to legal action.

 

 

 

8. Jurisdiction and Legal Standing

 

  • This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and applicable federal Canadian laws.

  • Any disputes arising from this agreement will be handled in Alberta’s legal jurisdiction.

 

 

 

9. Acknowledgment and Agreement

 

By checking the box and/or signing below, I confirm that:

 

  • I have read, understood, and agree to all the terms listed in this document.

  • I am at least 18 years of age or the legal guardian of the client, if underage.

  • I understand that participation in counselling is voluntary and that I may withdraw at any time, but payment obligations remain in effect.
